Test Automation Lead
SummaryReporting into the Technical Test Manager, you will help build, maintain, and improve our suite of automated tests across our portfolio of applications and backend systems. You will work closely with our dedicated offshore automation teams, as well as our inhouse Client, Middleware and CI teams to improve QA efficiency and extend our quality coverage. Additionally, you will be involved in issue investigation, writing and sharing technical documentation, roadmap planning, technical decision making in terms of approaches to our test automation efforts, all the while liaising and collaborating with the various manual QA teams to ensure that automation efforts are returning maximum ROI to the QA department and the broader organisation.
What You'll DoResponsibilities
Manage and mentor a team of test automation engineers, providing guidance and support in creating, executing, and maintaining automated test scripts, while working closely with the Technical Test Manager and the business stakeholders
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the automation testing team.
Work closely with development teams across areas to ensure alignment between automation testing strategies and software development processes.
Collaborate with QA teams and QA leadership to streamline testing procedures and drive automation forwards on a project by project basis
Keep business stakeholders up to date with QA reports on milestone progression, priorities and blockers
Assist the Technical Test Manager in defining roadmaps for all automation projects which align with broader business objectives and execute to plan
Aligning with the Technical Test Managers vision, ensure automation best practices are being followed, providing feedback and suggestions to better them where necessary
Work alongside the Technical Test Manager to automate capture of business KPI data for broader discussion across the organisation
Review in conjunction with the Technical Test Manager heavily manual processes across the organisation with a view to automate where possible
Strong understanding and practical application of automation testing methodologies in the context of mobile game development.
Extensive experience in creating and maintaining automated test scripts for game features and functionality.
Support the Technical Test Manager in attaining the teams financial year goals through ownership and tracking of personal KPOs / OKRs
A strong understanding of agile development with the ability to cover for the Technical Test Manager in periods of their absence
Ensure automated testing is available to support all releases across the organisation and is demonstrably raising the bar for quality
Understand our sister companies automation journeys, sharing experiences and learning from one another while assessing where crossover efforts could benefit all parties
Educate the broader organisation regarding the benefits offered by automation through workshops, company presentations, demos etc
Administer and manage any systems or platforms (eg. on-premises Lab, 3rd party cloud vendors) required to improve and scale our automation efforts
Technical Competencies
Programming Languages:
Automation Frameworks:
Strong expertise in Appium, SpecFlow, AltUnity or similar test automation frameworks for mobile testing.
Experience in Specflow, Cucumber, Selenium, JUnit, TestNG alongwith CI/DevOps tools like Jenkins/Bamboo are a plus.
Technology Stack:
In-depth knowledge and experience in game development environment or similar and tools for testing mobile games is a plus.
Strong expertise in creating and implementing automation testing frameworks, tools, and methodologies.
Proven experience in automation testing, specifically within the mobile gaming industry and Unity development environment.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Solid understanding of game development and quality assurance processes.
