Riot Games was established in 2006 by entrepreneurial gamers who believe that player-focused game development can result in great games. In 2009, Riot released its debut title League of Legends to critical and player acclaim. As the most played video game in the world, over 100 million play every month. Players form the foundation of our community and it's for them that we continue to evolve and improve the League of Legends experience.

We're looking for humble but ambitious, razor-sharp professionals who can teach us a thing or two. We promise to return the favor. Like us, you take play seriously; you're passionate about games. We embrace those who see things differently, aren't afraid to experiment, and who have a healthy disregard for constraints.

That's where you come in.

Visual Designers at Riot Games want to create the best player experiences through their knowledge of systemic design, graphic design, interactivity, layout, typography, color theory, and illustration. Designers work with teams and act as both artistic and design problem solvers. They understand players and ask questions about the what, who, and how when solving for an interface or communication challenge.

As a Visual Design Artist III on League of Legends: Wild Rift , you will review all partner product requirement documents and UI designs, provide feedback, create UI concept mockups, artistic event thematics, final interface layouts, iconography, and other visual assets to build upon and guide the Wild Rift player experience. You will work with the Art Lead and UX designers on the team to cover all UI workflows for Around-Game, In-Game, and Events while evolving our collaboration in Figma, maintaining quality bars, and contributing to the style guides. You'll work with Producers, Artists, and Designers across the product.

Responsibilities:

  • Team up with UX designers, Product, Front-end Engineers, and Motion Graphics across different teams to develop and ensure the high-quality visual implementation of global events
  • Collaborate with teams of multiple products to create the style guide, provide and review all related art assets for cross-product campaign design
  • Develop solutions with partner teams for Wild Rift's UI for Around-Game, In-Game, and Events with an understanding of layout, color, value, hierarchy, legibility, event thematic, multi-device support, and interactive systems
  • Create vector artwork, iconography, and rasterized assets that are high- quality and optimized
  • Plan out work with the team and set expectations for development and workflow to bring concepts to final designs, provide final assets, and report UI bugs during playtests
  • Work with the partner team during production, review the partner team proposed design features for UI visibility, visual style and visual consistency to ensure the quality bars are met
  • Maintain the design system and the UI/UX Figma file structure, create, and update documentation, and library components
  • Maintain the quality bar for your discipline and be the UI and Visual Design advocate in the team
  • Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of professional experience as a Visual Designer, UI Designer, or UI Artist
  • Experienced with Adobe CC products, including Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Experienced working with Figma and/or other UI/UX design tools
  • Strength in design fundamentals (layout, composition, grids, typography, color, and lighting)
  • Create different thematic styles with a high attention to artistic details
  • Highly proficient in spoken and written English
  • Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience playing League of Legends or other MOBAs
  • Experience developing briefs, target concepts, and managing vendors to produce final art
  • Experience with Unity, 3D software, illustration or matte painting tools
  • Experience with multi-device mobile UI development
  • For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and decision-making that prioritizes the delight of players. We will be looking at your past studies, experience, and your personal relationship with games. If you embody player empathy and care about the experiences of players, this could be the role for you!

We will review your work as a part of the application process, so please provide a portfolio with your application. Don't forget to include a resume and cover letter. We receive many applications, but we'll notice a fun, well- written intro that shows us you Dare to Dream and Execute with Excellence.
