At Paradox Development Studio Gold, we're passionate about creating games that bring the most value to our players. We are passionate about our games and believe in a relentless focus on player value, always striving to improve what we do. Trust is a key part of how we operate, empowering each team member to take ownership of their work. We understand that not all solutions can be perfect and that doing something good enough can be better than not doing anything at all. We take pride in our success and know that it's the responsibility of every individual in our studio.

Your mission

As the Release Engineer you are the Studio Golds champion, you lead in build and automation, advocating for best practices and optimizing internal workflows. Operating as a one-person team, you proactively address immediate issues while strategically planning long-term improvements. Your role involves collaborating with Game Teams and the centralized Build Team to deliver builds across platforms and enhance continuous integration pipelines through tool development and process refinement.

You will set up and own strong processes around releases for our games together with our producers & QA. You will also set up and maintain branching workflows that enable multiple teams in parallel to work independently on the same game. As a Release Engineer, you will introduce automations and tools to improve the efficiency of the development team and improve our CI/CD pipelines so they are stable, fast and feature complete.

Required knowledge:
  • Understanding CI/CD

  • Proficiency in scripting with Python and Bash

  • Knowledge of version controlling with Git

  • Experience of Linux / macOS server administration

  • Good verbal and written communication skills (English)

  • Additionally, it's a bonus if you have hands-on experience with GitLab pipelines and automation tools like Jenkis. You're familiar with C++ programming language and possess a solid understanding of the software development lifecycle. Moreover, if you have experience playing Grand Strategy Games in general, with a particular focus on Hearts of Iron 4, that would be an added advantage.

On a personal level, you like to take initiative and have a strong sense of independence and ownership of what you do. You thrive when you get to communicate and collaborate with the team and look forward to making games with us.
