Job Description

In this position you will be a key member of the Eyepiece Process R&D team and will be heavily involved in R&D, engineering, and associated wafer patterning activities. This position will focus heavily on the fabrication of Magic Leap's internal photomasks and continuous improvements around photolithographic processing. A successful candidate will maintain ownership of all lithography tool performance metrics and be able to visualize/share data effectively with the team. They will be able to provide clear feedback to engineering and systems personnel related to baseline and improvement project status/testing. Job duties will include hands-on nanofabrication and supporting measurements to ensure part conformance and tool health/stability. Working with engineering team members to execute experiments and collect actionable data will help drive technical improvements. Those with experience related to thin film and defect inspection equipment will be given preference. A key contributor will be able to schedule tool time, manage consumables, and ensure timely delivery of internal components to Magic Leap's manufacturing team/site. Candidates must be highly innovative and enjoy working in a fast- paced, rapidly changing, dynamic and creative environment.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

This position primarily works in a Class 100 cleanroom environment. The employee must be able to suit up and wear cleanroom attire for extended periods. The ability to manually handle glass and Si-type substrates + operate equipment and metrology tools is essential. The job may require standing/sitting as necessary to operate equipment and collect data/images.

Required Qualifications:

  • Hands-on semiconductor/micro or nano-fabrication or related experience in a clean room environment (with manual wafer handling).
  • Experience in using manual, semi-automated or automated nanofabrication equipment.
  • Experience with lithography, using microscopy & surface analysis techniques.
  • The ability to track tool baseline health and identify process shifts (spreadsheet and/or web based).
  • The ability to collect, summarize and communicate data accurately in detailed reports and to provide regular verbal updates to peers members outside the group.
  • Maintain proactivity to push continuous improvement within the organization.
  • Maintain cooperative attitude during times of ambiguity and changing project scope.
  • Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience owning photolithography equipment/process + familiarity with thin-films processing.
  • Ability to analyze and visualize data using JMP/MiniTab/Spotfire.
  • Background with inventory tracking and consumables management.
  • Compile data into reports for communication within the process group and across teams.
  • Be familiar with reflectometry, ellipsometry, and/or white light interferometry to characterize thin films and patterned feature dimensions.
  • Ability and desire to learn new processes, evaluate new methods, improve data monitoring and collection tasks.
  • Experience interacting with vendors, process engineers, and equipment support staff, to solve tool/process-related issues.
  • Demonstrated background/aptitude for mechanical and/or troubleshooting.
  • Proven track record pushing process/tool improvements and acting as a reliable teammate.
  • Education and Experience:

  • Associates degree with minimum 7 years experience or bachelor's degree with minimum 5 years experience.
