Principal Animator US - Remote

ProbablyMonsters is looking for a friendly and curious Principal Animator who wants to help create a new competitive shooter as part of an incubation game team.

You will join a team that believes:

  • In this role, you will create and maintain the pipeline and animations with a focus on 1st person, 3rd person gameplay and cinematic animations for a unique cast of stunning 3D characters, weapons, props and more.

    Location(s) and Travel

    Our team is excited to welcome new remote team members, with expected online collaboration hours from 10 am – 4 pm PST. Our goal is to grow a healthy team where we value our time together, so travel to offsite locations for collaborative sessions can be expected, but not limited to, once a quarter.

    This role is available in all US states except NY, DE, HI.

  • You excel at building animation pipelines and maintaining them with Technical Art and Engineers and can do it in any stage of production.
  • You are capable of and love to create IP defining animations and style that players will remember for years.
  • You have an expert understanding of gameplay animation systems and workflows, and the ways that animation impacts a game.
  • You have an expert understanding of the player experience and are always thinking about what can make gameplay better.
  • You are well organized, work effectively with project planners, and dependably deliver tasks on time and can do it with complete autonomy.
  • You are proactive & curious about learning what is state of the art technology for your craft.
  • You are fiercely passionate about games and what they mean to our players and believe your art should serve. the broader player experience above pure aesthetic goals.
  • You are effective at presenting your positions and ideas to positively influence the project.
  • You are proactive about evangelizing for your team to improve tools and workflows.
  • You are incredible at workflow and process documentation.
  • You can work with a rigged animation asset, trouble-shoot problems with it and know how to address them.
  • You find it deeply satisfying to collaborate with internal or external team members and clients.

  • QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 8+ years industry experience of character animation for shooter games.
  • Experience working with one or more industry-standard engines such as Unreal.
  • Adaptability to the latest technology in your discipline to aid in your craft.
  • A portfolio showing relevant examples of your work.
  • PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience working with external vendors.
  • Experience leading and mentoring.
  • Have shipped a AAA game with Unreal Engine.
  • Competitive multiplayer experience.

    Compensation:

  • This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, exempt (salaried) position.
  • The full salary range for this position is $169,000 - $262,000 per year. The upper third of the salary range is typically reserved for existing employees who demonstrate strong performance over time. When an offer is made, many factors are considered, such as your unique experience and skills, where you live, where the work will be performed, what similar jobs pay, internal equity, and what you're looking for.
  • In addition to base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for additional incentives, such as a sign-on bonus and short- and long-term incentives. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
