Narrative Director

THE ROLE:
We are seeking a Narrative Director who is experienced in leading multi-
disciplinary teams in the creation of new worlds and universes from the
earliest phases of development through shipping.
We are looking for someone excited to work in the early ambiguous phase where
exploration and innovation happen quickly. Someone who can help to shape the
world building, drive character development, run a writer's room, take on a
primary writing role, and define the technical needs to get narrative into the

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Lead, manage, and direct a team of primarily external narrative designers
and writers.
Lead the creation of a compelling and well-structured narrative, including
plotlines, characters, dialogue, and quest elements.
Partner with the other leads and directors to ensure excellent
collaboration and trust across all groups.
Drive creative and narrative direction for key aspects of the product.
Help develop the world for new IP or existing, licensed IP.
Write clear engaging content with a strong understanding of storytelling
and cliffhangers.
Direct a team of writers, both internal and external across multiple
locations.
Jump in and create content or prototype when needed, take personal control
of the narrative.
Collaborate with game designers, artists, writers, and developers to
integrate gameplay mechanics and narrative seamlessly, ensuring a cohesive
player experience.
Oversee the narrative design process, including brainstorming sessions,
storyboarding, and script writing, while managing timelines and meeting
project milestones.
Collaborate with voice actors, audio designers, and stakeholders to ensure
high-quality voice performances and audio integration in line with the
narrative vision.
Review and provide constructive feedback on written materials, such as
scripts, dialogue, in-game texts, and marketing materials, to maintain a
high standard of storytelling excellence.
Support an external team through mentoring, directing, and/or
communication.
Work closely with the General Manager to align and develop the overall
creative direction of the project.
Ability to work in ambiguous and start-up environments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
6+ years of professional experience as a Narrative Designer and writer.
An expert in narrative design and world building.
Experience leading distributed or external development teams.
Experience developing story-focused games.
Experience leading teams of cross-disciplinary groups.
Experience creating and managing a team of narrative designers and writers
is a plus.
Experience developing in Unreal is a plus.

Compensation:
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, exempt (salaried) position.
The full salary range for this position is $197,200 - $305,600 per year.
The upper third of the salary range is typically reserved for existing
employees who demonstrate strong performance over time. When an offer is
made, many factors are considered, such as your unique experience and
skills, where you live, where the work will be performed, what similar
jobs pay, internal equity, and what you're looking for.
In addition to base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for
additional incentives, such as a sign-on bonus and short- and long-term
incentives. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
