Guerrilla Games is seeking a Lead Technical Designer to join our studio. We are looking for a candidate with excellent leadership skills and significant experience in technical design, ideally in AAA development. A successful candidate for this position would be expected to quickly gain expertise in Guerrilla's proprietary Decima toolset. They would be responsible for helping drive forward content, content tools, systems, and pipelines that allow for more efficient development.

What Technical Design Does At Guerrilla

We design tools, workflows, and content systems in partnership with Code and Design. We are responsible for creating and iterating on complex game content from a prototype to a shippable state. Our mission is to make development faster and easier, while keeping game data maintainable and scalable. Designers are our customers, and we collaborate with them to try to anticipate future needs in content driven systems. We approach the most complex of problems and address them with simple, intuitive, and useful solutions.


As a Lead Technical Designer at Guerrilla, we will look to you to:

  • Manage, organize and mentor the Technical Design team, setting quality standards and goals and assisting and supporting them in their learning of good work practices.
  • Help set the direction and vision for tools, workflows, and content systems, in liaison with the Code and Design Departments.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on the designs of systems and tools that enhance their workflows with a focus on their modularity, maintainability, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Establish a culture of mentorship and excellence within the Technical Design department.
  • Work with Production to manage and prioritize the Technical Design Backlog

    We'd love to hear from you if you:

  • Are a service-oriented, compassionate leader.
  • Have at least 3 years of experience managing (and hiring) a team.
  • Have at least 5 years of experience in a Senior Technical Design role.
  • Possess a deep understanding of all phases of game development, from early concepts to post-launch support.
  • Extensive experience working in scripting environments and tools, and familiarity with programming languages and concepts.
  • Experience evaluating tools and workflows to be used by Content Designers
  • Have excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • You're known for thinking at big picture views strategically and identifying and solving extremely complex problem spaces.
