The opportunity

Magic Leap's Research & Science roles are responsible for conducting complex research and analysis to support the development and improvement of our AR technical products, processes, and systems. Research & Science team members use their expertise in various fields of science, engineering, and technology to design and execute experiments, collect and analyze data, and provide recommendations based on their findings. Members of this team possess specialized knowledge in areas such as data analytics, artificial intelligence, software engineering, and materials science. They collaborate with other technical team members, including engineers and scientists, to develop innovative AR solutions that drive business growth and success.

As a Human Vision Scientist within our Quantified Experience team, you help to create an optimal visual experience for Magic Leap's users. The team members provide subject-matter expertise and conduct empirical studies on human visual perception.

This will be an 18 week contract position located in our Plantation, FL headquarters

What you'll do

  • Plan and conduct experiments with human subjects on visual perception issues in head-mounted display devices
  • Statistical analysis of experimental results and preparation of reports and presentations
  • Assist with lab management tasks
  • The experience you bring

  • PhD in Vision Science or related field or 3+ years equivalent research experience in an applicable field. We are most interested in your total experience and professional achievements.
  • Experience conducting human subjects research
  • Knowledge of human vision science
  • Critical thinking and analytic problem solving skills
  • Working knowledge of statistics for behavioral sciences
  • Knowledge of at least one of the following programming languages: Matlab, C/C++, Python
  • It's exciting if you also have

  • Experience with AR/VR is a plus
  • Experience with Unity, Unreal or OpenGL is a plus
  • Experience with Matlab Psychtoolbox is a plus
  • The ability to summarize research findings in a meaningful way for various audiences
