Summary

The position of Director – Group Sustainability offers a unique opportunity to help mature the sustainability journey of a truly global Australian-listed games, entertainment, and technology company. Making progress across our Sustainability priorities is core to Aristocrat's values, and our growth strategy.

Your Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) leadership credentials will help us build upon the progress of Aristocrat's sustainability reporting and disclosures as we turn our attention to abatement planning after submitting near and long-term emissions reduction targets to the Science-based Targets Initiative and as we move from a voluntary sustainability reporting environment to mandated reporting over the coming years. It is an exciting opportunity to help lead a decarbonization strategy at scale, to support a team striving to lead in responsible gameplay and drive Aristocrat to be an ASX frontrunner on sustainability reporting. The successful candidate will provide thought leadership and expert advice to the business to achieve progress in our sustainability performance. As part of Aristocrat's Group Corporate Affairs function, the role will also support internal engagement and education, as well as partnering functions such as Investor Relations, People & Culture and Corporate Communications, to share our progress and build engagement on sustainability issues.

What You'll Do
  • Oversee the preparation of Aristocrat's annual Sustainability disclosures, with the assistance of a program manager who will report to you. This will include capturing progress against our Sustainability pillars of Business Operations, Product Responsibility and People & Community. This will also include capturing information on how we promote responsible gameplay, diversity and inclusion, governance, responsible sourcing, privacy & data security, health & safety, responsible sourcing including modern slavery, our decarbonization progress and circular economy.

  • Provide strategic decarbonization advice to sustainability leadership group on execution against Aristocrat's science-based and net zero targets. This will include assisting the project management team in devising and delivering against a 2–4-year strategy to implement multiple abatement levers such as electrification of Aristocrat's service fleet, procurement of renewable energy for Aristocrat's global facilities, and supplier & customer engagement.

  • Consult with cross functional team from Finance, legal, Risk & Audit on approach to new mandatory reporting frameworks such as the AASB/ISSB standard in Australia or the CSRD in Europe, including agreeing and establishing an assurance roadmap for climate & sustainability disclosures.

  • Oversee the regular double materiality assessments, working with internal and external stakeholders and rolling this into our approach to Sustainability disclosures.

  • Work with sustainability leadership to develop 3-year strategy for sustainability disclosures including capturing RG approach, Climate, sustainability reporting framework recommendations, assurance, metrics, and targets.

  • Support the execution and reporting of RG metrics for reporting in the Sustainability Disclosures.

  • Manage a Program Manager responsible for collating and drafting annual Sustainability disclosures.

  • Contribute Sustainability perspectives to inform important business processes, including the assessment and mitigation of Enterprise Risks and the implementation of the Group's growth strategy.

  • Support Aristocrat's investor and customer related Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) engagement, including by partnering with Investor Relations to identify emerging issues and opportunities for improvement, as well as building relationships with key external ESG contacts.

  • Contribute to periodic reporting to the Aristocrat Board of Directors.

  • Support the delivery of communications about Aristocrat's Sustainability program, to build recognition and support for our efforts, and further enhance the business' culture and reputation.

  • Bring Sustainability / ESG thought leadership to the business, mapping emerging trends and stakeholder feedback to evolve Aristocrat's Sustainability strategy and priorities as we make progress.

  • Champion Sustainability across the business, influence and help to build internal engagement, as we strive to become a recognised Sustainability leader in the games and gaming industries.

  • What We're Looking For
  • Relevant tertiary qualification and 10 years' experience in the sustainability / ESG field.
  • Extensive experience developing ESG strategy, ideally within and ASX- listed company.
  • History of engagement with institutional investors on ESG issues an advantage.
  • Industry knowledge and networks highly desirable, with a strong understanding of corporate sustainability reporting and global sustainable development frameworks.
  • Outstanding verbal, presentation, and written communication skills, with proven ability to build relationships, influence, and advocate.
  • Capability to work across the business, and by forming high quality relationships, build and continuously improve our sustainability practices, whilst serving as a trusted business partner.
