Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Developing channels of communication and collaboration amongst disciplines
  • Maintaining close relationships with crew and support individual employees' development needs
  • Establishing a healthy culture of inclusivity and mentorship
  • Creating and maintaining an effective performance evaluation feedback system
  • Partnering with Art Directors and Leads on long-term planning around staffing and career growth
  • Providing leadership philosophy and coaching for Art Directors and Leads
  • Identifying and planning training programs studio-wide, and per discipline
  • Ensuring a smooth arrival into the studio for new hires in partnership with HR and Recruitment
  • Partnering with fellow Department Managers and HR for best practices in employee relations work
  • Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience managing large teams of artists in a dynamically changing production environment
  • Ability to be the center of calm and reason in any situation, setting the tone for all leaders to be able to handle a wide range of personnel issues including recruitment, career development, reviews, performance management, and conflict resolution
  • Possess outstanding people management, communication, and organization skills, as well as a thorough understanding of art department dynamics within game development
